Restarting MountVintage.org

I've been neglecting this website for a while, but I'm happy to announce that we're going to restart MountVintage.org this summer. Given the recent initiatives by the HOA to improve communication among the residents, I feel that I should make an effort to update the site.

I will remind our readers that this is an independent website. We're happy to cooperate with the HOA, the developer, and other groups, but all of us will make our own decisions. This site is focused on providing useful information for the residents of Mount Vintage, not selling real estate.

If anyone would like to contribute information to the website, please send email to webmaster@mountvintage.org. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Best Regards,
Steve Miner

Ownership change

Bettis Rainsford announced today that he has sold all his interests in Mount Vintage companies to Talmadge Knight. That should resolve most of the legal issues between the partners. Apparently, Knight will be the sole developer in charge of Mount Vintage going forward.

Alzheimer's Memory Walk recap

Last Saturday, a team from Mount Vintage participated in the Alzheimer's Memory Walk in downtown Augusta.  Thanks to everyone who walked and donated to the event.  The grand total was over $90,000 in donations.

The Augusta Chronicle published an article about the walk:

Monday's Homeowner Meeting

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to attend the meeting on Monday night. Someone gave me a quick overview. All property owners should be getting more information about the assessments and increases in HOA dues soon. The golf course is being taken over by Mike Hooker with the intention of making it a private club. Golf members will have to pay an assessment to keep their membership. The new golf and athletic fees will be announced soon. That's all I can say at the moment. If you have questions, you should contact Jay Rusch, jayr@mountvintage.com, 803-279-5422.

If you have more information about the meeting or would like to publish an opinion, please send email to webmaster@mountvintage.org.

Golf Course Update

The committee of homeowners investigating the feasibility of buying the Mount Vintage golf course and operating it as a member-owned facility has announced that they have terminated their work and will be disbanding their organization. They were recently informed by Talmadge Knight, the Mount Vintage developer, that he has decided to pursue a different path. Additional information from Mr. Knight is expected in a few weeks.

The Feasibility Committee had planned a meeting for tonight (June 21), and conference calls during the week. These are canceled in light of the developer's decision.

The editor of MountVintage.org thanks the committee for its work.
